The fifth transnational history research conference

On November 15 2020, the researcher of the center held the fifth transnational history research conference. Associate Professor Huang Xiangfu conducted a lecture using the topic Wells and the Writing, Translating of the Compendium of World History and China's Problems. It mainly introduces the writing process of World History Compendium by Wells, the world-famous writer of general history of the world, and the spread of the book in China.

Huang Xiangfu graduated with a PhD in History of Science from University College London (UCL), and is currently an associate professor at the School of History of Nankai University.

He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Taiwan. 

Research fields include popular science history, modern science history (18-20th century astronomy, geology, and natural history), science and culture, science communication and society, modern British history, and modern Chinese (Republic of China) history.



Talker: Ke Zunke



Ke Zunke graduated from Peking University with a PhD in philosophy. He is currently an associate professor at the School of Humanities, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and deputy director of the editorial department of the Journal of Dialectics of Nature, Chinese Academy of Sciences. 

Mainly engaged in the study of the history of British science and the history of modern Chinese science. 

Published papers related to Darwin's theory of evolution, British scientific professionalization, Sino-British scientific exchanges, and scientific systemization in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.
