On September 20, 2019, Professor Fu Chengshuang, a full-time researcher of the World Modern History Research Center of Nankai University, was invited to the School of History of Jiangxi Normal University to be a guest at the Lecture of World History Masters. First, Professor Fu Chengshuang discussed the historical changes in the image of North American Indians in the eyes of white people from noble savages to bloodthirsty savages in modern times.
The former represents an innocent, simple, and healthy Indian image, while the latter is endowed with treacherous, dirty, barbaric, lazy and almost all negative connotations despised by Christian society.
Later, I deeply analyzed the historical reasons for the changes in the image of white Indians, and believed that North American Indians’ dualistic images of noble savages and bloodthirsty savages in the hearts of white people were actually a subjectively shaped one by whites.

Finally, Professor Fu settled on the eco-Indian image that has appeared since the 1960s, and believes that the emergence of this new image is actually a variant of the traditional noble Indian image after the rise of the global environmentalist movement.
Professor Fu came to the conclusion: Whether it is the historical noble barbarians and bloodthirsty barbarians or the modern and contemporary ecological Indians, they are not so much a true reflection of North American Indian culture.
