Members of the world center for modern and contemporary history won five the ninth sun Pinghua Academic Award for Japanese Studies
On December 10, 2020, the 9th sun Pinghua Academic Award for Japanese Studies of the Soong Ching Ling Foundation was announced. Four members of the world modern history research center of Nankai University won five awards.
Among the monograph awards, three works funded and published by the world modern history research center of Nankai University were awarded. Among them, associate professor Qiao Linsheng's crisis of Democracy: a study of Japan's hereditary politics (Tianjin People's publishing house, 2019) won the only first prize in the category of monographs, and women's education and schools in China, Japan and South Korea edited by Professor Li Zhuo, Zhou Pingping and Tian Xianglan (Tianjin People's publishing house, 2019) won the third prize in the category of works, and Professor Zhang yuliai's book the nihility and reality of Japan's decline in the Heisei era (1989-2019) (Tianjin People's publishing house, 2019) was awarded the award for book encouragement.
Among the paper awards, Professor Zhang yuliai won the second prize for his book new characteristics of Japanese manufacturing industry and the pain of its transformation (Modern Japanese economy, issue 4, 2019), and Professor Wang Meiping's policy of supporting Chiang Kai Shek and anti Communist Party and cooperation between Chiang and Japan (1927-1928) (historical research, issue 6, 2019) won the award for encouragement.
Sun Pinghua Japan Science Academic Award Fund is the highest award in the field of Japanese research in China. In September 1997, China Soong Ching Ling Foundation set up this award to realize the long cherished wish of Mr. Sun Pinghua, the late president of China Japan Friendship Association, to cultivate young and middle-aged talents in Japanese Studies in China and to promote friendly exchanges between the two countries. This is the only academic award fund in China
